The TREFLE tournament 2016 – The first edition of The TREFLE tournament took place in Hong-Kong 4 years ago. This year and for the first time, it will take place in Casablanca the biggest city of Morocco. This tournament is basically like a Rugby World Cup for French schools localized abroad.

This tournament will take place from Monday, May 16thtill Friday, May 20th, 2016 and will gather 22 teams  from 3 continents (Africa, Asia, Europe): Lithuania, Portugal, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Singapore, Hong-Kong, Japan, China, Kenya, South Africa, Tunisia, Nigeria (2), Sultanate of Oman, United Arab Emirates and Morocco : Fes, Marrakesh, Rabat and 3 teams from Casablanca.

The tournament aims at working on the following priorities :

• The diversity in the teams.
• The link between primary schools and French collèges (school from 12 to 15 years old between primary school and high school) : this implies that primary school teachers and physical education teachers will have to work together on a structured and consistent  teaching approach around this activity .
• Refereeing by young match officials : the former players of the Moroccan delegation who took part in the 1st TREFLE tournament in Hong-Kong and are today in class of “troisième” (Last grade of French collège before high school), assisted by pupils of sports associations and rugby classes of Anatole France and Lycée Lyautey’s schools.

The TREFLE 2016 joins a global effort to develop rugby for all and promote its values with strong support from the following :

A partner club – the COC –  and a local rugby school steadily increasing its membership base where diversity is key with French and Moroccan educators and players always working together.

A strong link between rugby and schools in Casablanca and in Morocco : 4 Moroccan selections from Fes, Tangiers, Marrakesh and Casablanca participated in the operation Scolarugby USEP-FFR in October in Pas-de-Calais (France), in parallel of the Rugby World Cup

A close partnership between school rugby and federal rugby in Morocco and more particularly in Casablanca, culminating in the organization of the TREFLE 2016 at the  COC.
