The Rugby Africa Silver Cup is getting ready in Casablanca, Morocco. While the teams of Morocco and Cote d’ivoire have been in training camp in the Kingdom for some time already, the teams of Madagascar and Botswana have joined them yesterday.
The challenge is serious this year since the winner of the competition will be promoted to the Rugby Africa Gold Cup for the 2018 season and will stand a chance to qualify for the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan.

Wednesday 5 July :
4pm – IVORY COAST v BOTSWANA
6pm – MOROCCO v MADAGASCAR
Saturday 8 July :
3:30 pm – Ranking match
5:30 pm – Final
Outside the tournament, the Moroccan Rugby Union is organising many events. Among other things, a curtain raiser match between two women’s teams of Casablanca. Then, a Get Into Rugby tournament will be staged at COC Rugby stadium when children will experience the thrill of playing in front of a big crowd !
The entire African rugby fraternity will be reunited for this occasion since the whole Rugby Africa’s team as well as its executive committee members will be there for a meeting. Decision making for next year as well as a review and assessment of the on-going season are on the agenda.
Abdelaziz Bougja, Rugby Africa’s chairman will attend the tournament to support the African teams : “Our hard work – Rugby Africa’s and the unions’ – over the years is being rewarded with this new competition format showcasing the best of African rugby. We all must at our own level contribute to the success of this project and to building a positive image around African rugby.”
