New faces in the team – After a most difficult year for the team, Rugby Africa is slowly getting back on its feet and keeps giving its best to grow the Game in Africa. The team decided to stick together and move forward as a group.
As we know, there is strength in unity and Rugby Africa appointed two new team members.
Johnbosco Muamba is joining the group as a Regional Development Officer. Johnbosco was born and lives in Kenya, he is fluent both in English and French and has a vast knowledge of rugby. Indeed, Johnbosco is a World Rugby trainer, referee and coach, he also helped a lot with rugby development in his country. Our friend, jack of all trades has more than one string to his bow ! He will undoubtedly bring a lot to Rugby Africa : a big welcome to him !
The little new one, who after all is no longer so new is David Baird-Smith. After completing a year-long internship with Rugby Africa, he was officially hired at the beginning of October Already in South Africa since September 2015, our young intern proved his worth and has been a precious help. He joins the team as administrative assistant, he will bring his support to Coralie van den Berg , handling some of the logistics, flight tickets booking, events management, payments… he will set up new administrative and financial management procedures and follow-up on the on-going financial framework project bringing assistance and training to our unions. We wish David well and know he will fit just fine thanks to his unfailing good mood and motivation !
Already well known in the African rugby family, Coralie van den Berg is taking on a new role. After 4 years of an unremitting job, Coralie is promoted as General Manager. Her new assignment and David’s appointment will give her a broader scope of responsibility and allow her to explore new commercial opportunities for Rugby Africa. She will also be able to prepare the future of the organisation as Rugby Africa embarks on new exciting ventures next year !
