Monaco, here we come ! – Africa has been waiting for this day since last November. Since Kenya won against Zimbabwe in the last seconds of their match. Since November 15th, 2015, Zimbabwe, Morocco and Tunisia are eagerly awaiting the repechage tournament.
And that day finally came !
On Saturday, 18th and Sunday, June 19th, 16 teams will fight for the last available slot to take part in the Olympic Games. Gathered in the sublime community of Monaco, the teams are coming from all around the world and will meet in Louis II Stadium. A much awaited encounter between Samoa and Tonga will open the ball with Samoa featuring as big favorites of these repechage, further to their victory at the HSBC Paris Sevens. Zimbabwe happen to be in the same pool and is coming well prepared with its best team : Kilvan Magunje, Boyd Rouse and Takudzwa Fransisco being regular players of the international circuit.
Action kicks off at 11:00 local time on the 18th of June at the iconic Stade Louis II in the heart of the Principality. Zimbabwe will play its first match at 11:22 am facing Ireland, Morocco will play at 12:28 pm against Russia and Tunisia will play Chile at 12:50 pm.
The battle for the final place alongside the 11 teams already confirmed for Rio 2016 (Fiji, South Africa, New Zealand, Great Britain, Argentina, USA, France, Kenya, Japan, Australia and hosts Brazil), together with the opportunity to represent rugby and their nation on the biggest global sports stage will ensure a fascinating competition.
Monaco promises a big show, action-packed and full of suspense giving fans a preview of what to expect at Rio 2016.
