Match commissioner workshop – Tournaments are perfect occasions for our Development Officers to visit unions and organise workshops or training sessions. Adama Bakhoum used the U20 Barthés Trophy in Tunisia , to deliver a match commissioner workshop. Participants from all over Africa were reunited for this meeting, Charles Yapo, Mostafa Jelti and Johnbosco Muamba from Rugby Africa were there, with 4 other participants : Abdelkrim Younssi from Morocco, Alain Koubé from Ivory Coast, Ben Said Boulbaba from Tunisia et Edvige Manga from Senegal.
This workshop took place in 3 parts : online tests that candidates had to pass before the start of the workshop : then 2 technical days in a classroom before a practical exercise during match days.
Tunisian Rugby Union set up everything to facilitate the workshop, supported by Rugby Africa and World Rugby.
Following this workshop, 5 candidates received their accreditations and the 2 other will be co-supervised during tournaments between May and June to complete their accreditation.
This workshop allows Rugby Africa to improve its competitions management, with more rigor before and during the matches.
As part of the education program around the tournament, teams were invited to an anti-doping and dietary supplement awareness session conducted by Dr Imed Mrabet from Tunisia in association with the anti doping national center of Tunisia.
A first aid training course was also organised in Jemmel by Tunisian trainers.
With this workshop Rugby Africa shows its wish to develop the training in all the area for the health and player welfare.
