Johnbosco on a jaunt – Our Regional Development Officer visited South Africa to attend a Get Into Rugby seminar. It was organised by South Africa Rugby Union and the venue was in Johannesburg.
During the seminar, participants spoke and interacted in discussions concerning tag rugby, introduction to contact rugby, I play referee programme, girls / women only GIR programme as well the performance of the programme in the rest of Africa and the world in general.
Then, Johnbosco went to Zimbabwe. He attended the Zimbabwe Rugby Union Board governance workshop where he made a presentation on the values of rugby and the status of the Get Into Rugby in Zimbabwe. He also had a chance to attend 2 courses ; level 1 coaching and level 1 officiating in Bulawayo which is in the southern part of the country. During the visit to Bulwayo, Johnbosco had also a chance to speak about and market the Get Into Rugby programme in that region.
Our friend concluded his visit with a review meeting with the personnel involved in implementing the Get Into Rugby Programme in Zimbabwe. They discussed the possible collaboration with the Tag Rugby Trust and the Old Mutual programmes to increase participation. They also reviewed the implementation of the programme and set targets for the rest of the year.
On the other hand, Denver Wannies met with Level 3 coaching candidates to plan the programme for the year towards their completion as well as meeting with the Technical director, Training manager and the coordinator of medical Training to review the union’s training and education needs.
