As International Women’s month draws to a close, we look back at how Ghana Rugby observed the 2021 International Women’s day on Saturday, 06 March 2021, which coincided with the Ghana Independence day celebration.
Over 200 women and girls from all the regional zones came out to celebrate and recognize the input and progress of women around the world and Ghana in particular.
The occasion started with aerobics warm up to the excitement of all participants. This was followed by a well-planned program with the formation of barbarian sides to compete in the spirit of bonding, fun and unity among participants.
The program had the women in barbarian teams playing their matches first followed by the competition among the girls. These were all in the 7s category. These women were provided with full support from the Ghana Rugby Men side.
Due to the pandemic, all COVID 19 rules were observed to the letter.
Our sponsors, Sunday International, Pragati International Ltd and Red Eagles Ghana supported this event with various sponsorship items and funding, and we would like to extend our gratitude to them for this support.
The President of Ghana Rugby, Mr. Herbert Mensah, graced the occasion and made presentations.
Among the dignitaries present to support the event were regional presidents and their staff, board members, coaches, and managers.
At the end of the day, some women came out to talk on their involvement and their experiences so far.
This was crowned with a speech by Rugby Africa Unstoppable Rafatu Inusah, a GRFU board member and women representative.
