Girls in Dublin ! – After the men, it’s the women’s turn to play their repechage for the Olympics. Again, three African teams are going to confront 13 international teams to try and grab the last available slot for Rio 2016 !
This time our continent will be proudly represented by Madagascar, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.
Among the teams in the running to take the last place, Tunisia is not a part of the favorites. Nevertheless, the motivation is big among the players although Women’s Sevens rugby is still pretty confidential in their country.
After the last stage of Women’s HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Clermont-Ferrand (France) ; princess Charlene of Monaco drew the pools composition. Tunisia is in pool B with Spain – one of the favorite teams – Mexico and Venezuela. Zimbabwe and Madagascar as for them, are in the same pool in front of Russia – big favorite – and Samoa.
The two best teams, apart from Russia and Spain already successfully qualified for the next season of Women’s World Rugby Sevens Series, will be also qualified for the season 2016-2017.
The 16 teams entering this tournament in Dublin thus have a double reason to participate.
The kick-off will be given on Saturday, June 25th at 10 am between Argentina and Kazakhstan while the final will happen the next day at 6:29 pm. Tunisia will meet Spain at 11:06 am, Zimbabwe will play in front of Samoa at 11:28 am and Madagascar will play just after, at 11:50 am against Russia.
