On the 28th and 29th of November 2017, Gabon Rugby Union organised its first “Get Into Rugby” session. The training targeted young boys and girls from primary to high school and was held in Owendo stadium in Libreville.
14 young educators were involved under the supervision of Charles Yapo, the regional development officer in charge of the country. On behalf of Rugby Africa he handed over to the union’s staff 2 Get Into Rugby kits, 26 balls and 5 “I also play referee” kits.
I Also play referee is a program dedicated to the promotion of refereeing and its values from a young age.
This was the first time a joint activity was facilitated by Rugby Africa and Gabon Rugby Union since the union officially became a member of Rugby Africa in December 2016.
