Africa shines – Successful gamble for Cape Town 7s ! The show definitely lived up to the 7s rugby amateurs’ expectations  over the weekend of December 12th and 13th. South Africa once again displayed an amazing hospitality and proved its capacity to host incredible events.

The stadium was filled to capacity with  more than 110 000 seats sold on two days of tournament. The crowd was friendly and excited creating a great atmosphere! It surely helped our African teams to shine during this second stage of the HSBC circuit.

The Pool B included among others South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe, a very promising clash of the African titans. Our players didn’t disappoint and put up a nice show !

Injera-Kenya

This week, Collins Injera is making his come back in the  Top 10 of the best scorers. In two days, he indeed scored 5 tries bringing him to  the 4th place in the ranking, the only African to feature in it

South Africa thus won the trophy at home and has now the same number of points in the general ranking as Fiji.

Cape Town 7s was a brilliant finish of  the HSBC World Series for 2015. The players are now heading back home to spend Christmas and new Year holidays with their families. We shall see them in great form at the end of January in Wellington (New Zealand) where they will restart for 4 months of sevens rugby around the globe !

The first African team on the ground of Westpac Stadium will be Kenya which will face Canada on January 30th at 12:58 am ; then South Africa will meet Scotland at 1:42 pm. (GMT + 12 hours)
