2024 Rugby Africa Cup: Namibia Beat Kenya in a Repeat of the 2022 Final to Take Home Bronze

Namibia secured third place after beating Kenya 38-27 in a highly-scoring play-off of the Rugby Africa Cup here in Kampala on Sunday, July 28.
The record African champions, having relinquished their title, now return home with the bronze.
Their clash with Kenya – two of the most dominant teams on the continent in recent times – was a repeat of the last final, played in France in 2022.
Namibia controlled the game from the beginning, with flyhalf Denzo Bruwer rediscovering his kicking boots after a rather subdued performance with the tee early in the tournament.
The Welwitschias also benefited with Bruwer’s exciting halfback pairing with Jacques Theron, who was one of the try scorers for the Namibians.
Kenya had its moments in the match, but the disadvantage was that Namibia kept hitting back each time the East Africans got points on the board.
Such was the case when replacement Derrick Lusambili dotted over to briefly raise Kenyan hopes, before the nippy number 9 Theron made sure Namibia claimed third place.

The Rugby Africa Cup is a continental rugby unions tournament featuring the top eight countries across Africa. Participating nations include Zimbabwe, Algeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Kenya, Namibia, Senegal, Burkina Faso and host nation Uganda. All twelve matches will take place at the refurbished Mandela National Stadium and Wankulukuku Stadium in Uganda, from Saturday July 20 to Sunday July 28.

All matches are available for broadcasting on NBS Sport Uganda and DSTV Channel (377). In addition matches are available for free streaming on Rugby Pass, https://rugbypass.tv/home, Rugby Africa Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/RugbyAfrique) and Rugby Africa YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/RugbyAfrique).
