2017 Africa Men’s Sevens: Uganda makes a clean sweep again !

Uganda claimed the victory of the 2017 edition of the Africa Men’s Sevens after a thrilling final against Zimbabwe (10 vs 7). The two finalists directly qualified for the 2018 Sevens Rugby World Cup to be held in San Francisco.

Uganda, which won the tournament for the second time in row, also qualified for three stages of the 2018 World Sevens Circuit: Dubai, Cape Town and Honk Kong repechage.

 

The tournament was held in Kampala, Uganda on the 6th and 7th of October 2017 and involved 10 of the best African teams: Zambia, Madagascar, Botswana, Morocco, Uganda, Senegal, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Mauritius (Namibia withdrew of the tournament).

Ghana delivered a great performance for its first participation in a continental Sevens Tournament.

A referees training camp was organised in parallel of the tournament by Hendrik Greyvenstein from Sa refs academy.
